Signed, titled, and inscribed with the work number “1954.”. On thin wove paper. 10.4 x 16.4 cm (4 x 6.4 in). Sheet: 22,5 x 24,3 cm (8,8 x 9,5 in).

• The artist’s most significant prints were created during his prolific years between 1918 and 1920, and his first woodcuts in 1918.
• Feininger taught himself the technique of woodcut and is today considered one of the masters of this craft.
• In the year this work was created, Feininger was appointed by Walter Gropius to the Bauhaus in Weimar.
• In the family’s possession for over 50 years

Private collection, Southern Germany (acquired from the above in 1970, Galerie Wolfgang Ketterer; in the family’s possession since then).

In good condition. The upper left corner has a tear (approx. 2 cm). The upper corners of the image show remnants of the original mounting on the reverse side, which show through slightly on the recto. There are slight creases in the lower left corner and along the upper right edge of the sheet. The edges of the sheet are slightly irregular all around.
