Gabriele Münter
1877 - 1962
Stillleben mit Büchern. 1926- 30.
Oil on thin cardboard, laid on gray cardboard.
With the estate stamp on the reverse. 33 x 44.7 cm (12.9 x 17.5 in). [EH].

• Two still lifes with similar motifs from the Gabriele Münter and Johannes Eichner Foundation were part of the major retrospective “Gabriele Münter - Malen ohne Umschweife” (Gabriele Münter - Painting Without Hesitation) at the Lenbachhaus in Munich in 2018.
• The subtly graded colors reflect the artist's reinvention in the 1920s.
• In this work, Gabriele Münter draws on the quiet yet powerful expressiveness of New Objectivity with painterly sensitivity.
• Until April 26, 2026, the Guggenheim Museum New York is honoring the artist with the comprehensive exhibition “Gabriele Münter: Contours of a World"
.

Accompanied by written confirmation by the Gabriele Münter and Johannes Eichner Foundation, Munich, dated October 7, 2013.
