• Bernard Schultze is one of the most important protagonists of gestural abstract art in Germany.
• The protruding, relief-like material from the surface visualizes the tension between the moon and the earth—a formal counterpart to the movement of approach and attraction implied in the title.
• “Mond-Verlangen nach der Erde” (Moon Longing for the Earth) allows material and space to merge into a cohesive unity of content.
