Gewitter über Angeln. 1920.
Watercolor.
Signd and dated in the lower right. On laid paper. 64.9 x 50.4 cm (25.5 x 19.8 in), the full sheet.
[AR].

• A powerfully staged natural spectacle with a richly nuanced color palette.
• The watercolors from this period testify to Erich Heckel's great enthusiasm for the unspoiled landscapes of the north, far away from the hustle and bustle of Berlin city life.
• Offered on the international auction market for the first time (source: artprice.com)
.

The work is listed in the estate of Erich Heckel, Hemmenhofen on Lake Constance. We would like to thank Ms. Renate Ebner for her kind support.

PROVENANCE: Galerie Rosenbach, Hanover.
Private collection, Switzerland.

In good condition. Irregular browning in the passe-partout cutout. Small tear at the lower edge of the sheet (approx. 1.5 cm). Slight creases, one larger diagonal crease/fold, probably due to the original paper. The left and right edges of the sheet are slightly irregularly cut. Due to an old mounting on the reverse, the paper is slightly thinned in places along the edges of the sheet, but still stable.
For information concerning the condition, please view the high resolution image / backside image.
