Peter mit Kopfverband. 1925.
Pencil drawing.
Signed, dated, and inscribed "Graz" on the reverse. On thin creme paper. 26.1 x 20.7 cm (10.2 x 8.1 in), size of sheet.

PROVENANCE: Karin & Rüdiger Volhard Collection, Bad Homburg (acquired in 1986, Hauswedell & Nolte, Hamburg).
In family ownership ever since.

EXHIBITION: Spektakel des Lebens. Max Beckmann - Arbeiten auf Papier, Sinclair-Haus, Kulturforum Altana, Bad Homburg v.d. Höhe, October 19–December 9, 2001; Museum Folkwang, Essen, February 1–April 7, 2002; Ulmer Museum, Ulm, April 27–June 30, 2002, cat. no. 19.

LITERATURE: Hauswedell & Nolte, Hamburg, 263rd auction, Jun 9,1986, lot 89 (illustrated on plate 77).

In good condition. Dynamic, decisive lines. The sheet is slightly creased and with a few faint handling marks, tiny crush marks, and small kinks. With a very faint crease running diagonally across the lower half of the image. A tiny puncture hole in the upper left corner of the sheet, probably resulting from the process of creation. Narrow discolorations around the edges of the sheet, probably from previous mounting. Residues from previous mounting on the reverse of the upper edge of the sheet, slightly protruding and showing through to the recto.
For information concerning the condition, please view the high resolution image / backside image.
