• Villeglé is an important representative of "Nouveau Réalisme", which he co-founded in 1960 together with Yves Klein, Daniel Spoerri, Arman and Jean Tinguely.
• His trademark of the avant-garde 1960s were the décollages made from posters torn down in Paris, the "affiches lacérées".
• The first highly acclaimed retrospective of this important "archaeologist of the street" was held at the Moderna Museet in Stockholm in 1971.
• Décollages by the artist can be found in the collections of the Musée national d'art moderne Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris, the Museum of Modern Art, New York, and the Tate Gallery, London
