• In the artist's colorful neo-expressionist late style.
• Freshly colored pastel for the lithograph with the same motif from 1961 (see Karsch 274).
• Dix devoted great interest to portraits throughout his entire oeuvre.
• After returning from French captivity in 1946, Dix settled back on Lake Constance where he painted man and nature
