Tessiner Landschaft (Zerfallene Hütte). 1937.
Oil on canvas.
Monogrammed (in ligature) and dated in the moist paint in lower right. Numbered, inscribed with the artist's name and titled on the reverse. 51 x 68.5 cm (20 x 26.9 in).

• From 1925 onwards, Karl Hofer traveled regularly to Ticino, where he owned a house on Lake Lugano for a while.
• Hofer's Ticino landscapes occupy an important renk in his work as they are an expression of his search for peace and balance in the difficult 1930s/40s.
• One of the few Ticino landscapes in which Hofer focuses his artistic gaze on nature that transcends civilization and the impressive mountain panorama.
• Other Ticino landscapes are at the Museum Ludwig in Cologne, the State Art Collection in Karlsruhe, the Kunsthalle Mannheim and the Art Museum in Winterthur
.
