Lower right signed (H, M and P in ligature) and dated as well as inscribed "vor der Aalbude" and "915 DMP68" by a hand other than that of the artist. On off-white wove paper (with blindstamp). 62.5 x 49.5 cm (24.6 x 19.4 in), size of sheet. [AM].

• Pechstein spent the summer of 1929 in Rowe near Lake Garder in Pomerania, where he made eel fishermen the subject of his depictions.
