Danilowitz 174. Monogrammed and dated "A `67", as well as titled "WLS - XVII" and numbered. From an edition of 125 copies. On Arches wove paper (with truncated watermark). 40 x 40 cm (15.7 x 15.7 in). Sheet: 52,8 x 52,8 cm (20,7 x 20,7 in).
Printed and published by Gemini G.E.L., Los Angeles (with the blindstamp). [JS].
• As of 1962 Albers attained his characteristic style: Bright, squared color modulations.
• In his paintings and color silkscreens from the signature series "Hommage to the square", Albers examined the interaction of unmixed colors which he coalesces in three to four squared color fields.
• Albers is a main representative of the American Hard Edge

In good condition. Slightly and evenly discolored. Lower left slightly crimped. With two tiny foxmarks in the light yellow parts. Bottom margin with a few unobtrusive handling marks. [JS]
