Ebner/Gabelmann 898 L II (of III). Dube L 327 II. Signed, dated, titled "E H" and numbered. From an edition of only 16 copies. On wove paper. 43 x 32.7 cm (16.9 x 12.8 in). Sheet: 50 x 39,5 cm (19,7 x 15,6 in).

• Portraits play an important role in Heckel's prints of the late 1940s.
• The year this work was made, he also made portrait in lithography of his fellow artists E. L. Kirchner, Otto Mueller and Karl Schmidt-Rottluff.
• In 1947 he also made a similar self-portrait in watercolor (Staatliche Kunstsammlungen, Chemnitz).
• Another copy of this lithograph is part of the collection of the Museum Folkwang, Essen.
