Signed in lower left. Inscribed "Halber Mond" on the reverse. On laid paper. 40 x 54 cm (15.7 x 21.2 in), size of sheet. [AM].

• Impressive nocturnal depiction executed in an appealing style.
• The night landscape, solely illuminated by the low moon, is arranged in shadowy silhouette.
• Made during a stay in Sieksdorf on the Baltic, where Karl and Emy Schmidt-Rottluff spent the summers from 1953 to 1956.


The work is documented in the archive of the Karl and Emy Schmidt-Rottluff Foundation, Berlin.

PROVENANCE: Hermann Gerlinger Collection, Würzburg (with the collector's stamp, Lugt 6032).
