Tänzer. Um 1915.
Pen and India ink drawing über Bleistift.
Auf Zeichenpapier. 20.2 x 15.5 cm (7.9 x 6.1 in), size of sheet.
[CH].
• From the much sought-after Berlin years.
• The artist's interest in dance and movement runs through Kirchner's entire oeuvre.
• With dynamic, nimble lines, the artist conveys the immediacy of expressive dance movement.
• In the year this work was made, Kirchner also created the painting "Der Tanz zwischen den Frauen" (Pinakothek der Moderne, Munich); the sketch offered here may have served as a preparatory drawing for the male dancer in the painting
.
