Peter Ackermann

The German painter and graphic artist Peter Ackermann is regarded an important representative of figurative post-war art and of Fantastic Realism.
Peter Ackermann, who is active in different genres (mainly in etching and drawing, later also in painting and watercolors), gained acknowledgement particularly through his architecturally alienated subjects. Fantastic and mysterious city views, backyards, roof landscapes and buildings, often showing traces of decay and in a reduced style characterize the oeuvre of the gifted graphic artist Peter Ackermann, who has been teaching at the State Academy of Fine Arts in Karlsruhe since 1976 .
Various single exhibitions honor the oeuvre of Peter Ackermann, e.g. the in the State Academy of Fine Arts in Karlsruhe in 1997, in the 'Städtische Museum' in Kalkar in 2001 and in the 'Landesmuseum Mainz' in the Galerie Dagmar Rehberg in 2004.
