Bernd Zimmer
1948
Reflexion. Mücken. 2009.
Acrylic on canvas.
Signed, dated, and titled on the reverse of the canvas. 200 x 160 cm (78.7 x 62.9 in). [AW].

• Landscape and reflection combine in vivid colors on the canvas to form an amorphous reality.
• Inspired by observations in Warthe, Brandenburg, the “Reflections” series was created.
Bernd Zimmer is an important representative of the “Junge Wilde” (Young Wild Ones) and was part of the major retrospective exhibition at the Städel Museum in Frankfurt am Main in 2015.
• Paintings by the artist can be found in important museum collections, including the Berlinische Galerie, the Kunsthalle Bremen, the Busch-Reisinger Museum / Harvard Art Museums, Cambridge, the Groninger Museum, and the Museum Folkwang, Essen.
.

Anuschka Koos (ed.), Bernd Zimmer. Bilder auf Leinwand. Werkverzeichnis 1976-2010, München 2011, CR no. 2111 (illu. in color on p. 557).

PROVENANCE: Private collection, Southern Germany (acquired from the artist in 2012).

In good condition, with fine colors. The outer corners of the painting are slightly rubbed. Slightly dusty. Partial, faint craquelure due to the technique used. A small spot of varnish in the centre of the left green edge, probably from the studio. The condition report was compiled in daylight with the aid of a UV light source and to the best of our knowledge and belief.
