Signed and dated in the lower right. On laid paper. 37.5 x 47 cm (14.7 x 18.5 in), almost the full sheet. [EH].


• Informalism meets pages from manuscript folios.
• In 2012, Emil Schumacher dedicated an exhibition to the “Macceroni Latino” series.
• Created during a stay in Cunardo near Lago Maggiore.
• Latino Macceronico is a dialect spoken in the 15th century, derived from Latin and vulgar language

PROVENANCE: Private collection, Berlin.

LITERATURE: June 10, 1987, Villa Grisebach, auction no. 2, 19th and 20th Century, June 10, 2025, lot 272 illu. on plate 63.

In good condition. The sheet is firmly mounted on the backing cardboard in the corners and in the center. There is slight greasing in the center at the bottom, probably from the mounting. Overall, there is minimal browning, which is slightly more pronounced at the edges of the sheet.
