• With his free, impressionistic, broad, and loose brushwork, Alexander Koester creates an atmospheric representation of the reflections of light and shadow on the water's surface and on the pond's shore.
• His works found their way into collections and museums at an early stage, with even Emperor Wilhelm II and King Vittorio Emanuele III of Italy acquiring two of his works in 1900 and 1907.
• Today, Koester's works can be found in the collections of the Neue Pinakothek, the Bavarian State Painting Collections, and the Belvedere in Vienna, among others.
PROVENANCE: Private collection, southern Germany.
In good condition with beautiful colors. Slightly rubbed along the outer edges of the image, partly due to framing, and occasional minimal loss of color. A small indentation with minimal loss of color on the lower right edge of the image. The condition report was prepared in daylight and with the aid of a UV light source to the best of our knowledge and belief.
