Art (1900-1945) > Cubism Albert Gleizes - Biography

Vierge à l'enfant rose (Femme et Enfant). 1926.
Pochoir.
Signed and dated "1926".Probably once more signed/inscribed "Gleizes" in the lower right margin. On wove paper. 40.2 x 25.5 cm (15.8 x 10 in). Sheet: 63,3 x 49,3 cm (24,9 x 19,4 in).
The pochoir is based on a gouache by Albert Gleizes and was produced by Robert Pouyaud at Moly-Sabata under the artist's supervision between 1927 and 1929. The date “1926” at the bottom right of the pochoir thus probably refers to when the gouache that served as a template was created.
With the stamp “Éditions Moly-Sabata” and the handwritten number “No 3” on the reverse. According to Anne Varichon's catalogue raisonné, the exact print run is unknown. [AR]
