Dube R 138. Ebner/Gabelmann 709 R. Signed, dated and titled. One of 10 known copies. On firm grayish paper. 19.7 x 16.7 cm (7.7 x 6.5 in). Sheet: 47,5 x 36,3 cm (18,7 x 14,3 in).
[JS].

• Eventful seascape, the choppy sea corresponds to the menacing clouds.
• The cross in the background makes this seacape, which was made during the war, an apocalyptic vison.
• Made in context of Heckel's famous and today destroyed painting "Madonna von Ostende".
• Rare. 4 of 10 known copies are museum-owned: Museum Folkwang, Essen, Staasgalerie Stuttgart, Brücke-Museum, Berlin and Kunsthalle Kiel
.
