Lothar Brendel is a representative of the generation of artists that took to abstract painting right after WW II. His oeuvre was on display in solo shows at the Tellkamphaus in Heidelberg in 1945, at Galerie Stangl in Munich in 1950, at Museum am Ostwall in Dortmund in 1959 and at the Museum Folkwang, Essen in 1967. He kept showing his works in exhibitions up until his death in 2013. He developed a deep interest in abstraction from the beginning on, rendering his varying impressions in strong colors. Our work is another wonderful example of his colorful and expressive style.
Walter Lothar Brendel is represented at, among others, the Museum Ludwig, Cologne, the Städtische Galerie at the Lenbachhaus, Munich, and the Rupertinum, Salzburg. [EH].
